First tip to place furniture on sofa is choosing large sofa. This will be great fro those who have large living room. Make sure that the rugs equal on all four sides of your room. Place the front legs of the sofa on the rugs, while the rest is on the floor. Choose 8’ x 10’ or larger rugs, and make sure that you will have space between the wall and the rugs. This will create a border of floor. If that size is not enough for you, then choose the larger one. A room-sized rug can also be a choice. This way will allow all the furniture you have floating on the rugs. If possible, leave some space as the border between the rug and the wall.
If you choose the smaller rug for living room, then use it under the coffee table only, and leave the rest furniture on the floor. This is also applied in other rooms, like dining room and bedroom. Big rugs will be great for dining room; it is minimum 8’ for square or round rugs. Then you can place all the furniture on the rugs.
Things to Consider
The key for choosing the size of rugs is making sure that it fits with the seating area. Thus, when you sit, your legs will be on rugs, not on the floor. Well, you do not need to choose rugs that cover the entire room. If you have square room, then square rugs or round rugs will be a great choice while rectangular rugs will only be great for rectangular room.
Other things to consider are color and texture. If you already have a colorful furniture and decoration, then a single color of rugs will be great choice rather than rugs with many colors. But if you have a single color room, then choose patterned large rugs for living room.
